The electric friers I've seen tend to be shorter but larger in diameter than the pots for gas friers, which might make it more likely to boil over since there's less head space for the foam. It might also not cool down as quickly as turning a gas valve down, making the boil over even worse.

Kick Ass! That looks great for a HLT and for a mash tun. you could get some copper pipe and use that for a drain for a mash tun. Just a thought... keep brewing and let us know how it works. As for a kettle, I'd get a turkey fryer and just use that to boil. Aluminum pot is ok to use. Stainless is better, but more money. Have fun with it, it's just beer!

that's what fermcap s is for. HA seriously though I started using that stuff in starters and my boil about 4 or 5 batches ago I don't know what's in it but the stuff is amazing at stopping boil overs. I haven't seen any neg effects on the finished product either.
