Partial mash Pliny "clone" recipe

Sat Oct 03, 2009 3:51 pm

Wanted to post a spinoff recipe I just bottled, which combined elements of the Brewing Classic Styles recipe and the Zymurgy recipe. You'll see there is an ample amount of corn sugar, since I've found with extract I have a pretty impossible time getting out of the 75-77% attenuation range, and I wanted to ensure this beer dried out completely.

This beer also ended up a full 2 Plato bigger than we expected in the OG, mostly because our partial mash efficiency was dramatically higher than in the past (thanks 5.2 - first time using it, and did wonders to Israel's ultra-hard water). Clearly a failed clone, since we bottled at almost two points higher than Pliny, but tasted a sample going into the bottle, and it looks, smells, and tastes awesome. Can't wait to open on in a week or two after bottle conditioning.

Please note, this is a partial mash recipe. Not enough of these on the network.
