Title:
Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day
When:
11/01/08
Category:
AHA Event

Description

What is Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day?

The American Homebrewers Association (AHA) Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day is an international event to introduce people to the homebrewing hobby and establish relationships with local homebrew supply shops.

Each year on the first Saturday in November, homebrewers around the world are encouraged to invite non-brewing and brewing friends and family to celebrate Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day and brew a batch of beer together.

Before the event, participants that have Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day events register their site on this web page. These registered sites help the American Homebrewers Association track how many participants celebrated the event.

Site organizers, promote the event and your participation through a customizable Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day site press release (Microsoft Word file).

  • Check out the post-event numbers.
  • Teach your friends how to bottle the beer you brewed together.
  • Encourage new homebrewers to go to their local homebrew supply shop.
  • Buy an American Homebrewers Association membership as a gift for new homebrewers.
  • Have new homebrewers check out www.beertown.org/ for up-to-date brewing information.

Last November there were 128 sites registered for Teach A Friend to Homebrew Day on the first Saturday of November. Roughly 1200 brewers gathered and brewed up over 2,200 gallons of beer while teaching another 540 people how to brew. Teach a Friend to Homebrew sites were registered in 31 states, Canada, United Kingdom, Nigeria, Indonesia, and two sites in South Africa.
